In an album amicorum (Latin for ‘friendship book’) students collected handwritten contributions from friends, acquaintances or famous contemporaries from the sixteenth century onwards. In addition to names and verses, the booklets contain many handmade illustrations. This gives you a good impression of the social life of the album owners. We can divide the alba amicorum of the KB into different types. We will give you a short introduction to the various genres with examples.
