The KB collects all comic books, graphic novels and comic magazines that are published in the Netherlands and Flanders. This is an exception to the collection policy, because as the national library of the Netherlands, the KB is mainly focused on publications that are published in the Netherlands or are about the Netherlands. We make an exception for comic books and also collect Dutch-language Flemish comic books, because many of these comics are also very popular in the Netherlands and are widely read. In addition, the rich Flemish comic history has had a huge influence on Dutch comic production.

On this page you will find stories about comics in the KB collection: from the first comic strip Mijnheer Prikkebeen and the first comic heroine Franka, to classics such as Tintin and Suske en Wiske and comic magazines such as Eppo and Donald Duck.
